I'm going to rave about these skinny jeans for a minute...If you have curves, carry your weight in your hips and thighs, or have junk in the trunk like me these are the skinny jeans for you. I have never had skinny jeans fit me this well! There is plenty of room for my tush, hips and thighs, and wait for it...NO GAPPING IN THE BACK! I forgot to take a picture of my tush, yes, I was going to show you how great it looks in these jeans and totally forgot. Next time, I promise.

Mini me and I both ended up wearing plaid to church today, so of course it calls for a dual outfit post. She is manning the camera remote and having trouble hiding it. This little remote has made taking my own outfit pictures a thousand times easier and faster. I now have it nailed down to about 4 or 5 minutes per shoot. If you are taking your own pictures this will be the best 40 dollars you ever spend. Trust me.

Carma loved this dress but questioned whether it works for her. It's super flattering on her figure and looks great with a fitted jacket. It's a longer length than what she normally wears but with her fabulous legs (and the fact that she's always in heels) it looks awesome. I always say "if a trend doesn't work for you, wait for the next trend." This is a length trend Carma can do well.

We paired a leopard print sweater Carma has had in her closet for quite awhile and freshened it up with a newer striped jacket and bright scarf. Layering new and "old" items from your closet gives fresh life to your wardrobe, therefore giving you have a lot more new outfits. Think outside your box.

There is nothing more springy than a white skirt. Both of these looks have a nautical feel to them without looking like you should be heading out on your sailboat. Carma rarely does flats but loved these bright boat shoes which give her white pencil skirt a very casual feel and is perfect for running errands and everything life throws her way in one day.

Doing a maxi skirt can seem like a challenge for most people. Carma, however looks great in it as it really balances out her body and flatters her figure. When doing a maxi skirt keep your tops fitted and structured to help you achieve a long lean line to your body.

This outfit is a version of what Carma had considered her "uniform". I mixed it up for her by pairing several stripes, a graphic tee, and more accessories than she normally wears. Flare jeans are super flattering on her frame. She doesn't do skinny jeans as we have to watch that her legs don't look too thin. What a problem to have, right! Carma, you look fabulous!

This is a classic look but bright green stripes and a heavier necklace makes it feel very modern. Trouser jeans are a go-to pant. If you're questioning dress code for a certain event, this is your pant. If everyone is in jeans, so are you. If everyone is in trousers, so are you. You win!

This necklace is actually meant to be worn shorter. We simply added an extender (which can be purchased anywhere they have jewelry supplies, Walmart, Target, etc...) to make it the length we wanted it.

Carma is wearing a simple knit skirt, which I have said a thousand times, is probably the easiest and most comfortable thing to wear. Horizontal stripes in a skirt are wonderful for balancing her figure. If you carry your weight in your lower half, keep the horizontal stripes on top. It's all about fit and visual details.

Say hello to Carma who has been a client for a long time. When asked about her goals for her wardrobe last week she relayed that she feels like she's been stuck in a rut and wearing a "uniform" for quite awhile. So for the next 2 1/2 hours I gave her 45 "new" outfits using her current wardrobe. In a rut no more! This week you will get to see 14 of these outfits.

Carma is a very busy wife and mother of 2 boys, who also owns her own business (Sommers Homestyle Noodles), where she works in the office, assists in production, and develops new pastas. Therefore she needs a wardrobe that can go from work to home to sports games and everything in between.

Carma asked me to give her some fun spring outfits, and we had a perfect sunny day for it. She recently purchased this bright green skirt but didn't know what to wear with it. She feels more comfortable in heels so you will see most of her outfits with heels as this is what she wears on a regular basis.

Hollywood, day 4

One shot of Friday is all I have to show you as my camera somehow deleted the first half of our day along with our all our photos prior to that. Technology!?!? I am very disappointed!

Either way, it was a very full and busy day. First up was downtown LA where we visited famous landmarks and walked through Skid Row (a few blocks where the homeless live). Talk about culture shock! From there we visited Little Toyko where I tried sushi for the first time. And then off to Rodeo Drive, where I had major label lust and couldn't afford anything. For dinner we tried an authentic Russian/Armenian restaurant. It was like the old movies when a stranger walks into a bar and the regulars stare, well we were the strangers. The staff was great and so was the food. This was probably the most culture I have had in one day in a long time.

Our hair is out of control after a 2 hour "open top" bus tour.

Yesterday was a great, sunny day in LA and we had a wonderful time taking a bus tour through Beverly Hills where we got to see lots of beautiful celebrity homes. Next up was an hour and a half walk (our choice) to a farmers market where there was great food, shopping and culture. I did have to buy flip flops after that trek in my heels due to little toe blisters! Today there will be band aids or flats in my outfit! Have a great day and thanks for reading.

This cashmere blend skirt is quite possibly one of the most comfortable things in my closet. It has just the right amount of stretch, it's a great length, and of course, I love anything in a stripe.

I wore this to do a presentation yesterday and had a very specific reason for wearing this outfit. I had lost my voice on Thursday and was still feeling the effects of it. The jacket gave me color and made me feel happy, the fur collar made me feel cozy, and as my niece pointed out, it takes away from what is wrong with you! Haha. Like my bleary eyes and a runny nose. Yesterday I dressed opposite my mood simply to get me in a better mood. It worked.

Changing my story, changing my world…not my normal post

Everyone is still talking about New year’s resolutions…I know I’m a bit late on the subject but I have been wanting to share this for awhile (in 2011, actually) but haven’t out of… A – Simply not taking time to write this B. Fear of appearing “holier than thou” (that is not my intention) C. Fear that I would mess up and have to tell you (yep, it’s called accountability).

At the end of 2010 New Pointe Community Church (where I attend) challenged us to make a difference in the lives of the people around us and our world by giving above and beyond our tithes in 2011. I immediately knew what I had to do (as God had been preparing me in previous months). I was to give my clothing budget for the entire year (with the exception of making one purchase per month, or if I had gift or rewards cards). If you know me, God could not have asked me to make a greater sacrifice.

In 2011 I learned more about myself and my “stuff” than I have in a long time. I have never fought self-control like I did last year. I have never thought so long and hard before making a purchase. “Do I really need it?” “How many different ways can I wear this?” “Is this really what I want as my purchase of the month?” On and on the process went.

The blessings and rewards are too many to tell. I have never had so many gift cards and rewards cards in my life. I was blessed with gift cards from friends and clients as thank-you's or gifts, and they had no idea that I was doing this. I get store rewards cards from using my credit cards when I shop for clients (I’ve always considered this a perk of my job). I don’t think I’ve ever shopped as much for client’s as I did last year, therefore ending up with a ton of rewards cards, which resulted in “free” clothes. I had a client hand me $250 worth of rewards cards saying she just wants me to have them (she had no idea what she was giving me)! I had a store register keep telling the associate I owed nothing when I should have owed about $5 that wasn’t covered with the rewards card. I would find things (that I loved) on sale for $8 when I would only have a $10 rewards card. Trust me, I could go on and on.

So why did I do it? 1- Because God asked me to. 2- I needed/wanted to remind myself that there is something bigger and greater than myself to live for. 3- I wanted to change my story and my world.

What did I learn from this? 1- When you make a promise to your Heavenly Father you’re not likely to break it! 2- That life is not about me! 3- To celebrate every little blessing and “kiss” from Jesus every day. 4- That my closet held way more clothes and accessories than I thought. 5- I have more self-contol than before. 6- Contentment.

Below are my purchases of 2011.

Express Coat - Mostly because I needed a coat.

Michael Kors belt from Macy's - The only thing I bought while I was in NYC. I know, I can't believe it either!

Express Blazer - Love white (you can wear with everything) and couldn't wait to wear it in the spring.

Aldo Sandals - Had been dreaming of a pair of blue sandals.

Michael Kors Watches - Loved the white one so much I bought the silver/gold one as well.

2 Dresses and a Jacket from Zara - I didn't shop for 3 months so I could shop for a few things while I was on vacation.

Sperry's - Love them? Hate them? I love them. Hubby hates them.

Michael Kors Handbag - Probably my favorite purchase of the year.

Velvet Blazer from VS - This was my final purchase of the year.

Last week I was scouring the shoe racks at Kohl's and was loving the JLo Collection (which were on major sale). I ended up with these flats, some killer black heels and tan suede boots. I love these flats but think I'm returning them as I only wore them for about 2 hours and they were rubbing on my feet something serious. I thought flats mean comfort. Not this time.. Sad face.

I wore this a couple weeks ago for a day of shopping for clients. Super comfy with a pop of color.

I walk into the men's department of Macy's and am greeted by a stare from the young gentleman working the suit department. Followed by "Awesome hair and great outfit." I respond with "thanks." And he continues "Do you play Nintendo?" "No, I'm not a gamer." "Do you listen to hip hop?" "No, I'm more of a pop girl." "Do you dance hip hop?" "No, I do not." After a few more interesting questions he says "Well, you just look like a nintendo playing, hip hop girl." What???!!!

I wanted to go home and change.. So was I getting hit on or did he just like my hair and outfit?! Because obviously this thirty something doesn't know the difference.. haha

Perfect Red Holiday Lips

The holidays are a perfect time to rock the red lips!

Start with great tools. I will be using Lip Liner in Red Velvet, Lipstick in Micro Red, and Gloss in Contessa.

If you have warmer skin tone you will want to use Lip Liner in Scarlet, Lipstick in Polished, and Gloss in Contessa or Dulce.

Before you start, use a lip balm on your lips to keep them thoroughly mosturized. Then wipe the lip balm off so your Lip Liner will adhere.

Start by lining your lips with your Lip Liner...

...then fill in your entire lips with your Lip Liner. This will stain your lips and keep color on them even after drinking, kissing, etc....

Now liberally apply your Lipstick...

...over your entire lip.

Last, apply your Gloss over your entire lip for the perfect glossy red lips.

For a pouty full lip apply gloss only to the center of the top and bottom lip.

Rock your red lips and enjoy the holidays!

Amy loved this full skirt but wasn't quite sure what to put with it so she doesn't end up looking like a ballerina. I paired it with a bold/heavy jacket and accessories to give it an age appropriate and non-ballerina look. Adding flats as opposed to heels also helps "ground" the outfit.

Don't not get a piece of clothing if you love it but don't know what to put with it. Think outside your normal box and you will come up with something great!

Say hello to Amy who is a relatively new client. I have had a great time going through her wardrobe with her and replacing things that no longer fit, due to her having baby number 4 a year ago. Most of her closet consisted of transitional clothes since her pregnancy. Which means there was about 4 different sizes in her closet, making it difficult to put together outfits that really fit her frame. I have given her a new wardrobe that fits her and reflects her style and personality.

Wide leg pants. A do or a don't? I'm only 5'2" and have a harder time pulling off wide leg pants. I'm also not always about following rules, hence, the wide leg pants. In order to make them work I kept the length longer and wear them with some of my highest heels. I also keep everything very fitted on the top to avoid looking like a wide rectangle.

Don't like the stripes with the blue and yellow? Wear it with a simple button up. Remember, it's about making it your own and wearing it with confidence.

I simply don't think I could handle it. I would love to hear about your great deals though.

A new week equals a new start. Last week I was insanely busy, at the studio, doing several events, and shopping with clients. My first instinct was to just try and make it through the week. On day number two I decided nobody (including myself) benefits from this attitude. Instead, I chose to celebrate everything I had going on, and everyone I had the priviledge of working with. My week could not have been better! I truly love my job and feel incredibly blessed!

It has been such a pleasure working with you over the last few years, watching you grow into your style, and really, yourself. There is nothing more rewarding in my job than seeing my clients truly become themselves. I believe your outside now matches your inside, and it's beautiful!

Fur, print, and ruffles. This is such a fun outfit on Tonya. She has very straight hips, therefore a ruffle placed at that area gives her nice curves. Wedge booties are a fun trend and super easy to wear since they support your entire foot as opposed to a regular heel. These boots have a rubber sole making them extra comfortable.

Another simple summer dress is ready for Fall and Winter layered with a jacket, tights, and boots. Gold/bronze accessories really add interest to a gray background and compliment the buttons on Tonya's jacket. This jacket is amazing. It is fitted, with great detail, and made of the softest fabric. It's like a sweatshirt but better!

Tonya said...I'm one of those women that forgot about themselves when their kids were young and needy. I didn't spend time focusing on my "image" at that point. Who had time? What Rhoda has taught me about myself is more than just clothes. It's about loving who you are, embracing it and passing it on to others. She truly wants to see people confident in who they are and the clothes you wear can help.

She can also do a team tee and wear a cardigan and/or scarf with it for a cute, sporty, and supportive look.

Bright colored jeans are a huge trend this season and Tonya wears them well. She loves bright colors as long as it's toned down with a neutral. Like the fun, slightly oversize top she's wearing. Adding an edgy necklace and boots makes it her.

Like I always say...it's about loving what you are wearing and feeling pretty in it. It doesn't have to be your best friend's style, as long as it is your style. Confidence comes from within you, those around you, what you are wearing, your hairstyle, makeup, and other things. Don't let anyone rob you of your individuality. Only you can be the best you!
